Default True Track arrived today...

I ordered it on Friday afternoon, and it arrived this morning (monday), so right away, I am impressed with their customer service. When I took it out of the box I immediately noticed that it is precision made piece of equipment and I am excited about installing it this coming Saturday.

I am installing it on my FXDF, and I hope to take a lot of photos and perhaps be able to post them to be helpful to others who plan to do the installation themselves.

That would be a great help. I'm on the fence about doing the installation myself. I wonder how much a dealer would charge to do it for me.....I'm afraid to hear the number.

The install isn't too bad. I took the rear wheel off for the back one, the front one was pretty simple. I did manage to crossthread on piece of the front one though, had to re-tap it. Other than that, it was all good.

Bring it over, I'll put it on for much less than the dealer!

Everyone talks about the install being difficult, it really isnt! I too was intimidated to start it, but it was easy.

just take your sweet time, and the rear will be just as easy as the front.

All I can suggest is, just take it apart. putting the plates on is a million times easier without the linkage. Once the plates are on, the linkage is easy to boot!

Another tip, when doing the front, i was worried about the motor shifting (even with the lift) so instead of removing both front bolts, I just removed the bottom one, installed the front plate with their bolt (just tight enough where it grabs, but loose enough where i can still rotate the plate), then I removed the stock top mount bolt, rotated the plate to where the holes line up and popped in their top front bolt. This way, there is always a bolt in the motor mount.

I'll also be watching as I have this on my wish list. Also be interested on what difference you feel it makes to your FXDF handling as I have one as well.

The install isn't too bad. Front is very straight forward unless you have a oil cooler like I did. Then you need to reshape the oil cooler bracket. I used wood and a big hammer to reshape it But like mentioned above doing one bolt at a time on the mounts will keep it simple. The TT instructions mention this. Also make sure the two brackets are not touching each other when finished or it will cause vibrations.

The rear can be done with exhaust on and rear wheel in place. But I find it is easier if they are removed. Well some exhaust's may be more friendly or unfriendly to install while on. The bottom belt guard removed makes things easier also.

Enjoy the rides,

Josh
