While changing the front brake pads I was removing the top bolt that holds the front caliper to the fork on my 05 FXDI when brake fluid began to gush out the the caliper the more I loosened the bolt. I've retightened the bolt for now to stop/slow the leak. I had changed out the front tire last week and thought I was careful to not cross thread the bolts and pins while reinstalling the caliper. What is the likely problem and what do I need to do? Also what was I likely to have done to cause this?
Looking at the diagram above, which bolt did you loosen that caused the leak?
BTW, You do not need to remove the caliper to remove a wheel, and you do not need to remove the brake line to remove the caliper, or to change the pads.
