Default Need ideas to blacken handlebars

Any ideas on how to black out my SB handlebars without buying black ones and going to all the trouble to remove the chrome ones, grips, etc. and then putting it all back together? Thanks for any suggestions.

I remember when I was lazy and my bike looked like ****. You can take the bars off in like 10 minutes, or if your scared to take them off maybe your wife can help you.

There is no way you can take the bars, grips, etc. off and replace all of that in 10 minutes. Please no smart azz answers.

Wow, your a D*ck!

Properly preping your chrome bars for paint while still on the bike will be very difficult/near impossible. As far as other ideas, I dont really have any. Grab a service manual and read up. Removing them isnt really that difficult.

Do it right.......and buy a set of blackend bars. You'll be happier in the end and they'll look better than trying to do a "home made" job on your beautiful bike. I the back of your mind, you're probably thinking the same thing anyway. I replaced my stock steel bars with Chrome over the winter......and they were only $45, so I cant imagine blacked out ones would be much more.

You are probably right, it's not the price that bothers me, I just hate to have to replace the grips. Since the left one is glued on, I assume you destroy it when you remove it. I think everything else just slips off. I replaced the handlebar on an earlier bike and I had to replace the grips. If this is all easier than I think, will someone let me know.

Whats wrong with scuffing the chrome and rattle-can the bars? You can tape everything off, cover the bike....I bet you can do it without removing them from the trees. Just more prep work.

Could do the Joe-famous "epoxy" on them.
