I went with a small, round AC cover for this very reason. I have an old SE tear drop cover that I really like, but it forces my right leg out too far on the highway peg. I don't want peg extensions 'cause then it would stick out too far and look a bit silly.

My sig shows the old bob style filter from drag specialties, provides a nice view of the motor and is out of the way.... about $40 plus backing/support plate
