Between samson street sweepers and v&h big shot staggered
I'm between the samson legend series st. sweepers and vance and hines big shots staggered. These two are the look I'm after and want them in chome, any thoughts between the two or anybody feel strongly against one or the other? Can you turn the ends of the big shots so they turn out instead of down and if so do any of you guys have a picture of this? Also I wondered which of the sets of pipes is louder/quieter since I've never heard them in person. I'd like to order one or the other by the end of the week, guessing my best bet price wise is to look around on ebay for a shop selling them. If you know of a very similar looking other set or other brand let me know too, these are just the two I always liked and now have enough $ to get them.
I can get you either brand at a nice forum discount. I don't think the ends on the BSS's can be turned out. I still like the Vance and Hines better as their quality is always great along with their customer service. Pm me for pricing please.
I side with v&h... My buddy had some quality control issues with his samsons, but they sound great, nice deep tone and they are loud. My v&h's, not the same model your looking into, but the quality was top notch and the looks are killer, just the sound is a little raspy, but i have grown to love the sound.
You need to check out youtube for sound clips of each pipes... Will give you a better picture(can you see sound??) of what each sound like.
I just installed the V&H Big Shot Staggereds on my '10 WG yesterday. I about crapped a brick the first time I started them up; they're LOUD! They look great and have a deep rumble. My ears started to hurt after about 20 miles of riding though (even with a full face helmet on) so the Quiet Baffles sound like a good idea to take the edge off.
Bottom line: you won't be disappointed with the Staggereds.
I had the Sampson ripsaws (similar to the street sweepers but the ends are turned down instead of out) on my old sporty. They look real nice and sound killer but are SUPER loud - I blame them for my tinnitus actually. The quality was fine but I scraped them in the corners a few times and as a result the chrome started peeling a bit....... most likely my fault; not the pipe's.
+1, that is not the first time I have heard of the samson exhaust cracking. I have the V/H Short Shots on my Fat Bob now, I just ordered the V/H Big Shots.
i love the way my street sweepers look, love the way they sound, my bike runs great with them on there...BUT
i'm leery now. 1800 miles on my pipes and the f*cking thing cracked straight through.
much to samson's credit they did the right thing and replaced the pipe at no cost, but if i have any issues with this second chance pipe i'll be looking elsewhere for exhaust.
