Default Mother F*&%ing ping!

i debated for 2 weeks on making a thread about this or nmot because i have read almost every page of the threads on here with "ping" in the title but i am just so annoyed and confused by all the "answers". I have a 2010 WG and it has roughly 3k miles on it and is 100% stock. Under hard accel it pings like all get out. I use nothing but 93 octane. I tried sunoco, mobil, Hess, and sunoco with sea foam for 3 tankfuls. Nothing helps the problem. I did my 1k service myself using conventional.

Now the "solutions" I read about were taking timing out with some sort of tuner along with an A/C and pipes and a good tune. One RK guy did a full teardown and removed all carbon in the engine and in that thread one poster said to vent the breathers to atmo. Some say its "normal". sSome say get colder plugs.... Maybe I'm missing something obvious but im not going to spend $1500 yo maybe fix a problem i shouldnt have in the first place.

I will say that I highly doubt lugging caused this because I broke the bike in with my father riding along and i didnt baby it by any means.

I am already bracing for "search dummy" so it wont offend me lol.

If anyone that has had this problem and actually solved it could ster me in the right direction I would be eternally grateful.

Octane booster will help, but the only thing that cured it once and for all was a fuel management system.

I assume you checked for a vacuum leak or a stuck slightly open IAC. The dealer was no help? Lots of bikes don't run like this, something wrong here, in fact isn't the ECU's ION sensor suppose to take timing out and eliminate the ping (at the cost of performance/power)?

Are the electrical grounds clean, especially the negative battery to frame?

What RPMs are the pings (or mph/gear)... I dunno. Are you sure its a ping and not some mechanical clatter perhaps in the primary?

I had an annoying surge, had to go to a TTS to tune it out.

im sure its coming from the top of the engine. Its not constant and only under hard accel. not while cruising. Since i did the 1k service myself Im sorta thinking the dealer wont help me because car companies break my ***** for warranty work. I will take a look at what you suggested asap. I really dont want to spring for a full a/c FM and pipe setup just yet but down the line i will. But if it will fix it i'll do it now. This is just so frustrating because what you (cold case) just said was all new info to me even after reading a bunch of threads on ping. but thank you.

I did the HD stage 1 - Screamin' Eagle Heavy Breather air filter , SE slip on mufflers and pcm recalibration. A nice noticeable gain at a reasonable price - $525 from HD for the a/c, a/c install and download plus $120 for my slip ons from ebay that I installed for a $645 total. Under 2 year warranty too.

If you have the receipts when you did the service the dealer can't say a word.

Besides changing oil ain't gonna cause that.

Take it back to the dealer. Make sure it's hot and doing it when you ride in. Tell them someone needs to ride it right then while it's hot. Keep taking it back if they don't fix it!

It takes 20 to 30 minutes of riding for a Harley to come up to operating temp if the engine is at 80ş ambient temp. I run oil temp gauge.

Lots of things can cause it. Bad Ecm, Bad sensor(s), loose connector to a sensor or injector.

You should not have to spend a $1000 to make a new Harley run right.
