Not sure if I'm calling them the right thing or not But I have a 05 FXD that I just put a new set of bars on & would like to find a bigger size grip. Right now I have the factory ones. I have rather large hands so Id like something more to grab onto.
(make your jokes else where)
From: Cleveland, Ohio (how do I put up with this place?)
The vintage "rubber" grips that come with the chrome ring are actualy larger in the middle. This is kind of a palm swell. You can get a set from H.D. or try some from a cataloJ comPany at a lower price. 1/2 hr install with a star/allen socket set.
I have big hands too and the harley nostalgic grips are the biggest i could find. I had them on my last bike and loved them. I need to buy another set for this bike.
I haven't measured them, but the Harley padded grips (about $50 retail) look fatter than stock. The Performance Machine "Contour XL" grips are for sure larger, but expect to pay the "PM tax" for them (about $150 retail).
I have the HD Foam Grips with the chrome rings at both ends and the loge on the end caps. I'd say they're about 1 1/4" diameter. I love them. Had them for years now. My buddy, who's got huge hands saw them and went that day to get a pair. He love's them too. Attached are pics of the grips before and after I changed my bars.
