Awesome Patrick! I knew you would have a great trip with no issue by the way you had everything mapped out.

Looking forward to the pics.

Hey Patrick,

Sounds like an awesome trip. We just had our westcoast trip a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. How did you like Oatman? Crazy little town! Route 66 was fun (especially the mountain part).

Grand Canyon was amazing. Too much traffic at the Hoover Dam but pretty cool nonetheless.

Did you ride through Lake Mead? Great roads to ride fast. We even got a little air coming out of one of the dips! We were a bit surprised by the road construction and found ourselves on unpaved and gravel roads for about 20 miles.

Did you take any pics?

Micah: Six boys, no girls (and mom lived to 90!). Geez: Working on getting a few of them to come with me to Goldendale; none confirmed [yet]. BD33: Oatman (and the ride up) was cool; all the wild burros wandering up to you looking for a carrot or other handout. The Oatman Hotel Saloon was fun; good food and an estimated 60,000 dollar bills covering nearly every imaginable surface above the floor. I'll get some pix posted soon.

Very envious. I would love to make that trip. I was in AZ in late March-early April and the weather was tops for mc riding. The whole time I was there, all I could think about was that I wish I had my SC and was tearing up the roads there enjoying the scenery. I'm planning a retirement trip next year, that will take me over the pass through the tri cities and eastern Oregon-Idaho-Utah and down to AZ. Cant wait. Be interested in seeing the route you took.

Steve

Got home yesterday afternoon from the RoadTrip I'd planned back in December. I satisfied my need to ride across Hoover Dam before the opportunity is gone for good later this year. We explored an interesting piece of old Route 66 west of Kingman and up to Oatman, before rolling into Scottsdale for a week at a golf resort.

From our basecamp in Scottsdale, we enjoyed some great rides to Sedona, a loop around the Superstition Mtns., Tombstone, the Mesa Marketplace, South Rim of the Gr.Canyon, etc. Ended up being a party of 6 riders; 4 of us 6 brothers, one nephew, and a friend. We had no bike issues, egos, or any negative stuff. For excitement, we got caught in a 40-mile sandstorm on Sunday, and a solid downpour from Hood River, OR all the way to home yesterday. All other weather was good to great.

I look silly as hell with my MAJOR "reverse raccoon", but it'll fade fast back up here under the perpetual gray skies. I'm not into "numerology", but found an amazing coincidence in that my total miles on my "B" Trip Meter is exactly the same as the last 4 of my home phone number; 4376. My '08 roadtrip was exactly 4200. Kinda weird.

Brother #2 bought the Ultra from me a week before we left on the trip. The only question now is whether I'm gonna get my '07 Road King back from bro #4...he is a long-time Harley-hater who's been having the time of his life for the last two weeks!

Hope you've all been enjoying some great rides; thanks for reading.

Patrick

i just rode that peice of route 66 about a month ago during the river run, yeah, nice little ride there

883 Iron: We took I-5 to 205 to 14; swam upriver and crossed the Bridge Of The Gods to 84; east to lunch at Full Sail Brewery in Hood River (excellent food/beer); south past Mt.Hood to 97 to K-Falls; down west side of Tule Lk. & thru Lava Beds; to 395 at Alturas, south to Reno & up to Virginia City; to Bishop, to Lone Pine, thru Death Valley to Pahrump; around Vegas and over Hoover Dam to Kingman; did the Route 66 run up to Cool Springs & Oatman; back to Kingman, 93 to Wikiup, Wickenburg, finally Scottsdale where we stayed at Orange Tree Golf Resort (great place!).

Coming home we did I-17 north to Sedona, Flagstaff, 180 up to the South Rim, east to Cameron at 89; up to Tuba City, fought the sandstorm all the way to Kayenta; up 163 thru Monument Valley, 261 and the Moki Dugway (awesome views!!); up 95 thru Glen Canyon, 24 thru Capitol Reef, 12 thru Escalante & Bryce; 89 and 9 thru Zion; I-15 thru SLC to 84 west thru Boise, Pendleton, Hood River, Portland, and I-5 back to home.

Some of the ride back was a reverse route of our Sept. '08 ride (the lower Utah parks). As in '08, the ride could be summarized by, "Utah has the scenic national parks, hands down!" We wish we could've included Arches N.P. (like in '08), but it was too out of our way this time.

Thats a great route, you saw some of the best the west has to offer. I'd like to spend a few days just running around Zion. Sounds like you had a ton of fun and banked some pretty good memories on the trip
