I just bought a 2010 Dyna Fatbob and find the handlebars are to low for me. I find I'm leaning over too much and it gets hard on the back after a while. I have friends who have different Harleys and have the 10 inch riser handlebars and they feel great. Any advice on what to get for my model? Can you just get the risers and keep the same handlebars? Thanks.
You can get taller risers easily if you like the bars. You can find risers in a lot of different lengths, and some pull back a few inches also.
The only thing is you might have to change your clutch cable and front brake line, there is usually plenty of wire.
If you prefer the non riser look you could get mini apes, which I believe are 10 inches. I went from the stock fxdc buckhorns to the mini apes and my comfort factor increased greatly. They are not very expensive if you get some take offs. Ive seen them go for about 30 bucks-50 bucks.
Firestop52 is right, you will most likely have to get new cables.
i have the mini apes of my wideglide and they aren!t enough for me i don~t like big apes but am going to have some made prob, 14 with a little more pullback to get me sitting straight, i will just give you my bars, if you pay shipping, it will prob be a week or two, i am in the proc of finding a custom set made, the prob with buying on line your taking the chance that they will not be the right bars and your back to square on
I was just talking with the harley dealership where I live, and they state that you can't get higher risers for my year model. They said that they'd look into it and get back to me on some other handlebars that would fit my model, but it doesn't look good as in variety for me. Wish I new for sure that there was a set out there that would fit my bike and be high enough.
Fatbobjeff,
Check with "Centerline" (a member on this forum). He put a set of 6" Chrome Pullback Risers on his FatBob...... Harley Part# 56267-09 he stayed with the stock Drag Bars. No problem using stock cables. Centerline posted pics of the risers installed on his bike a while back. The Dealer should have known there were risers available for you. Centerline knows a lot about the FatBob and puts his thru the paces.
