I'm curious about something.
why would you need security on a dyna?
you need the key no matter what. there is no chance of
forgetting to lock the ignition like on a s/t or touring bike?
seems like a waste of $400 at time of sale.
Not on mine. It's a 2010 and maybe things have changed. But I never even bother with using the key in the ignition. Stays unlocked all the time.
With the Security System on mine, once the key fob is more than five feet away from the bike, the security system arms. It ain't going anywhere without the fob. I just keep the fob in my pocket and walk away from the bike most of the time.
If I'm feeling a little paranoid, I'll lock the front fork but I don't bother with locking the ignition.
But, like I said, I'm not familiar with much beyond my particular bike.
That's one of the luxury's having the WG center console ( on a Street Bob ) NO MORE key dangling in the wind , after i unlock the neck the key/fob goes in my pocket till the end of the day !
I also use the quick detach key ring because the weight of the fob spinning around at speed did bend the key and also made a really nifty circle around the lock. The security system is nice to have because it disables the electricals, it's not that hard to defeat an ignition lock.
I don't think HD ever considered that someone might leave the key and the fob together while riding. Why don't you just put the fob in your pocket.....problem solved. By separating the two your security just doubled.
lol, i think he's referring to the avatar videos that make him lose his place.... they are definitely distracting - and i'll beat anyone who forces them to delete those severely (especially cowpokeys)
I don't think it's from the FOB blowing around. I keep mine in my pocket when I ride. I bent my key in my pocket. My keys are always jabbing me and my keychains always get broken from rubbing against something or carrying something heavy.
