Not forgetting that fob is just a silicon board with a few solders , transistors and resistors you all would be wiser to keep the fob in your pocket. I mean gosh I'm affraid just to drop that thing once!
PS i better not hear anyone is taking those lovely avatars down!
Fob must be fairly resilient to banging around. I've dropped mine a bunch of times as there's nothing to keep the key in the ignition when it's "off". Along with it banging around on the neck of the frame. I have been looking for a "Remove before flight" cloth/webbing key chain though, as the fob is marking up the frame with a nice dull swirl.
Quite a while ago I read that someone here put velcro on the fob and where the fob hits the frame. If I did that I'd put the hook side on the frame and the soft part on the fob.
That's one of the luxury's having the WG center console ( on a Street Bob ) NO MORE key dangling in the wind , after i unlock the neck the key/fob goes in my pocket till the end of the day !
and how difficult was that to do? I was looking to put a hole in the StreetBob console and putting the ignition there but this looks good.
was it as simple as plugging it in or was there some fancy wiring with it too?
There is a plastic cover to pull down underneath the tank that's where the wire harness is , pull the wires out and then reach in ( very tight ) and pull the plug from the ignition that's when you have to add wire and re-route them so it can reach the console ignition just plug in and go ! Do a search for WG center console on street bob you will get alot of wiring info , it's the best thing i ever did ! Give it another year or so and the Street Bob will come from the factory with it .
yeah I know bikes get stolen.
but on an FXD or FXDB you need the key to turn the bike on.
so you can't even power it up without the key.
so if you don't have power how are you gonna take off on the bike?
WG you can leave it unlocked. so I can understand the security there.
I have never heard of the key bending, but the frame was getting rub marks from the key chain. I ground the outside nub off of the key and now it is a removable key and I know longer have that problem...
