Default Question? Changing Primary for the 1st time.

I'm getting ready to change my primary for the first time on my 2010 Wide Glide. The service manual says capacity 32 oz wet or 40 oz dry, which is it? Thanks.

32 oz. even, bike must be level to get it in there. Also, I reused my rubber Oring gasket, nothing wrong with it and no leaks. Also your going to need a funnel with a small tip to fit between the case and clutch to get the lube in.

Oh, and be sure to USE a torque wrench for all the screws and the drain plugs, dang man you dont want to strip any of those case holes out or crack the case.

Wet= you warmed it up and drained it, there will still be a film of lubeon everything...

Dry means you have disassembled it, cleaned it out with cleaning solvent and let dry and reassemled.

Yep, 32oz. Jeff W is correct about having the bike level also, barely get the quart in with it straight up/down. What do you mean you're changing the primary, putting a different cover on?

He means he is changing the primary lubricant for the first time.

I'd like to give C908 a big hand for first referencing the service manual.

If you have a bike lift/jack you may want to just stand the bike up with it before adding your new fluid.

You really can't over fill the primary, with the bike level fill it up to the bottom of the derby cover hole.

Since 32oz. = 1 quart, it's a pretty brainless operation.
