I would just get the bike and ride it, then wait and see what "must haves" you might like to add.

What I did within a couple of weeks that I considered essential:
1. Battery tender lead
2. Throw-over pannier supports
3. Slimmer air cleaner and longer footpegs, so I can get my right foot to stay on that peg.
4. Swapped out mirrors for slotted billet ones to reduce the vibration and let me actually see something behind.
5. Upped the CLB table entries in the EFI to make it run cooler and smoother.
Slightly less essential but still done in those first weeks:
6. Swapped headlight shell from international to US spec so both headlights are on at the same time.
7. Swapped to combo tacho/speedo
8. Fitted SE pipes
9. Changed pre-load on shocks to #4
10. Fitted satnav harness and mount
Agree with pipes, but nothing else for now. if you don't know what to mod no one can tell you that is a very personal thing. Njoy it and keep coming here you will see all kinds of stuff to spend coin on and be sure to check the under 50 bux thread!
