Hey everyone,
I just posted this question in the general because I didn't see the dyna section at first so Ill probably get yelled at so anywho, my '07 fxd was not loud enough so I pulled the mufflers, great sound now! so to try to keep the look till I can afford pipes we drilled the caps in the muffler, put them back on not loud enough, so I took them off again. How soon do I need to go get it dialed in so I don't screw anything up? sounds good, runs good but I'm sure the lack of backpressure jacks with the cpu.
Thanks, Mike
Mike, welcome to the forum. There's tons of threads on this topic if you do a search.
You should be fine to run open pipes for a while as long as you keep your stock air cleaner. I know a few guys that have done this and have had no problems.
Open headers ? Not sure I would want to do that . These bikes are overly lean from the factory . Running those short open headers , with zero back pressure can't be good .

The bike will run 14.6 in the closed loop areas provided your O2 sensors are still intact. This will likely be about 80% or more of your riding. The areas set to closed loop might run a tad lean.
if you're worried about engine problems then put the mufflers back on - if you dont have cash for some used slipons, you sure don't want to add any additional repairs to the list of upcoming bills
BCT baffs should run you between 40 and 60 $$. Look in the HDforums classifieds someone is always selling **** cheap. If you were in canada you could have a crack at my rush 175's
