Here it is, proof positive of a working combo digital tach speedo working in a 2008 FXDF... The only hiccup was that the fuel light was staying on and the speedo said "range lo"... I tried killing the engine in the garage and restarting... nothing would change...
I had a half tank and though maybe a fillup would help? So I pulled out of the garage and about 2 miles down the road *poof* the light went out and the speedo has been FLAWLESS ever since!
Speed, Tach, all lights function perfectly In a 2008 FXDF it works!
It's got to be a difference in wiring. Also, since it involves a tach, it may be something with the ignition module wiring being different.
As far as not having to re-wire the bike for a tach, the wiring is prolly already run under the tank, just not used in this case. They do it like that because it's cheaper for them to use the same wiring harness for a SuperGlide Custom that they use on the WG. So it already is ready for a tach. You plug the tach in, it works.
I just now looked at the above posted picture..........I think I'd put that on my WG all day long! I'd like to have a tach......and it's a nice looking peice.
fyi my range now works too... which never existed before I put this thing on... Maybe 08's are capable of distance to empty but the motor company doesn't want you to know this?
