I went for the coolness factor and removed the lower guard. I guess it depends where you live. I picked up a rock and damaged the belt, $275 to change and i didn't feel so cool! Lower guard back on, after all, it IS acting as a conveyor belt to the rear pulley.
Looking at the bike today wanting to change something,
and there is nothing good looking about the belt guards,
but before I remove them what are the problems with removing them.
I commute with the bike, an worried about debris on the belt.
whats everybodys thoughts. and pics with them removed would be good also.

I took mine off then put them back on after noticing that the pulley looked like it was getting abraded from road sand/dirt. To clean it up a bit I altered the lower belt guard. I matched the radius of the pulley, trimmed the bottom so its level with the bottom of the belt, and cut out some of that triangle.
I like the way this one looks modded, you get a better look with protection. But as far as looks go the best is no guards at all in my opinion. I am sitting here in the shop taking mine off as i type this. but I think I am going to mod the lower and see how it looks also.
Formula ,, What Tools did you use to CUT the Lower Belt Guard ,,,,,,,,

leave it on. if you take it off you could die in a freak bell bottom sucked into drive belt rider ripped off and ran over by a mini cooper. better safe than sorry.
