Has anybody put the 10" rigid struts on their bike? I've got the Burly Slammer kit on there now, and since its basically like riding a hardtail, I figured I'd give these a shot. Any opinions welcome.
A buddy of mine has struts... looks bad *** but after a few hours out riding he's not the happiest camper. Mind you he also runs a bare bones seat. I think that has a lot to do with it.
I think struts wouldnt be that much of a issue if you ran a spring seat or a well padded seat.
Had them hated them went with progressive 440 9" they suck now both blew on me just after warranty and there suppose to be the best I also ride long island and through the city at times the potholes are pathetic!
I have a set of not shocks that are 10" I think. Anyway, I put them on the bike and it dropped the rear end down so much I couldn't get a scissor jack under it. It was also so low that I wouldn't have attempted to go around any corners. Lots of folks have rigid struts and love them...I like the look but they are not very functional. Unless you live in Kansas.
I never understood why people put bars instead of shocks on a Dyna or Sporty ! It doesn't change a thing in the architecture and makes the bike ridiculously uncomfortable !
Same thing happened to one of my club members. He went with progressive, they blew within 2 weeks and he had to limp back home with the rear fender rubbing.
I always liked the look of them but never had a set on my bike. I did ride a buddys fxdc that had them and I can tell you one thing, keep your shocks cause you'll be switching back to them sooner rather than later!
