We got rid of our inspections years ago. What a complete and total waste of time and money. Waiting in line for hours, having lame-brained inspectors looking for any reason to fail you, then having them slap the sticker on wherever they felt like it, usually on the front left fork with a big, ugly, green, yellow or whatever color sticking out like a sore thumb, and taking clear coat with it when it came off.

Besides, inspections anymore are really kinda stupid. With all the electronics on the cars tday, they just simply won't run if they're polluting Gaia's precious air. Which was the primary excuse in the first place. What is it now? Safety? Must protect the chilluns? Whatever. Politicans of a certain orientation just can't stand the fact that somewhere, somebody might be enjoying him/herself without paying the State first.

I feel for you.
No stickers with inspections with the new NC system.

+1 Find yourself a good indy. Inspection shouldn't be too much of a problem then.

Personally, inspection of any kind is just total bs especially on a bike because if you have half a brain you're inspecting your bike before every ride. Apparently the powers that be in NC don't grasp that concept.

I'm originaly from NC and this is one of the reasons that I left. No inspection here and you don't have to pay a tax every year just to register a vehicle. Back to your question, get the standard baffles and wrap some fiberglass around them (I use the cloth its easier to deal with) that will get rid of the raspy sound. With the added back pressure it'll probably add a little performance to your bike too.

small engines actually do more harm b/c they don't have emissions controls (why the MPG advantage of many M/C's isn't the whole story when considering the overall damage to the environment)...but then I don't have kids so shouldn't care as much as those who do

regardless - i don't think cleaner air is a bad thing. If ever there is a vote for "cleaner air" or "dirtier air" please put me down as 1 vote for "cleaner air"

same with water - i'll go out on a limb and be a supporter of cleaner water too. Crazy, but its a choice I'm okay with

Florida's air is pretty clean. So is our water. At least, it was on my dive trip to the Keys not too long ago. Real clean. Real clear.

But we don't have vehicle inspections.

Go figure.

NC inspections done by private companies sure seemed like it was about money to me. I remember my last inspection of my truck. The guy said my lights on my pickup were too low, so he raised them with a turn or two of the screwdriver for $40. Nevermind that they were fine the year before. Oh well.

Default Thanks 8541 hog

Thanks 8541hog for the info on baffles. I found a clip of the standard VH baffle that came with the pipes originally (even though i dont have them)
I found a sound clip on the standard baffles and really like them. Does anybody want to sell the standard VH baffles? 8541 do you still have those I will buy them..

NC just recently started this BS and when I say recently I mean within past 10 days or so. I can assure you that if you need a tag renewal now you will be required to have a inspection, and have baffles and a mirror. I am new here and have no connections so no BUDDY favors to just let it slide. Besides I want my bike to be legal so I get no hassles from the fuzz.
