Default Triple Tree Finish Suggestions....09 FXDB..

I am about to get my 12.5" Chubbys put on my bike which are finished in satin black line the ones I have now. I am also replacing the triple trees (and eventually the fork legs) to darken the look of my bike a bit. I was on the fence as to whether I should go with satin black (matching my bars), gloss black (to match the frame components and headlight casing) or leave them the original finish. At the same time, I will be doing my headlight trim ring in satin black, and the fork leg dust covers in gloss black and turn signals, will be relocated to the fork legs, and done to match the triple trees. Fork legs, eventually, will be redone in a satin black most likely....

I like gloss black. I like when the front end matches the frame and since the frame is gloss black I think the trees will flow better being gloss black. Whatever you decide, I would have the sliders and trees in a matching finish unless you leave the trees polished.

Unless you are going for a near total black out I vote leave stock for some contrast. Chrome with more black than stock is a classy look too. Depends on what look you want, but I would sure leave the triple trees as one of the last things I changed.

I've got em done both ways.

i said satin to match the tins just because for the ones that i have seen look pretty sweet, i have gloss black and there is no getting away from the swirls you get in black once you start cleaning them, from bugs and stuff

I would do the sliders first, it makes a way more noticeable change, and the stock polished trees still look good. The other way around ends up looking off balance imo, in the end its up to you just thought id throw that out there

not trying to mess up your thread with pictures, but heres mine in each stage of the front end change, remember i have gloss black bars also, and they are low rider tress but that shouldnt make too much difference, i still like my bike witht the polished trees, just too much work for me, mine were always needing polished
