Any tricks on how to keep the fluid in the reservoir and not on it. I replaced the front lid twice and need to replace the rear but have not. I refuse to use a chrome cap ...but don't like the black paint stripper bubble look either.
It seems once they leak they are finished...I clean and tighten still leak over time?

How tight are you cranking them down?
just run the screws down so the gasket barely starts to distort. Anything more will leak.
[QUOTE=SBRob;7079508]Seems like the most common cause for leaking is folks over tighten it...[/QUOTE
I understand, but once it leaks, I clean retighten, not too much, still leaks. I understand about over tightening, but when it keeps on leaking, its almost counter intuitive to not give a quarter turn more.
My theory is that this has been a problem for quite a while but when Harley switched to DOT4 we started seeing the paint problems. I guess they will have a fix eventually. Mine slowed down by not tightening it as much but just enough gets out to damage the paint. I spray painted it several time and finally just gave up and now I run bare aluminum and just polish it every once in a while.
Mine used to do the same thing. When I switched all of my stuff over to chrome which is all Custom Chrome parts I have not had one single leak. Just goes to show ya that sometimes the cheaper parts are better.
