I can't remember everything that's listed in the 1000k service but at the very least change the fluids yourself, Depending on what you choose to use, the fluids will cost you no more than $60. It's so easy to do. Then if you're not comfortable doing some of the other stuff, like adjusting the steering head bearings, then call your dealer or an indy and ask then what it would cost to do the rest. I think most of it is just inspecting anyway. Maybe you'll save a few bucks that way and you'll get some kind of satisfaction from doing some of the work yourself. Good luck. It's easier than you may think.

PS. Don't forget to replace the O-rings on the plugs.

I do know that different dealers in my area do different things for your 1000 service. One does a little of nothing however the one I bought my bike from, gave me half off and did a full blown once over on my entire bike to assure that everything was where it needed to be. That is a huge peace of mind for me knowing that they checked my spokes, adjusted my clucth, exhaust bolts, etc,etc,etc.. I would check with you local dealer and see what all they will do and if its fluids and go, then maybe just do it yourslef.
