I need the part number for a 09 Dyna Street Bob (FXDB) oil pan. Just bought a used 09 Street Bob 2600 miles on the bike about 1 mth ago an noticed a oil leak around transmission drain bolt. Got fluid today an o-ring to check out the problem, figured o-ring was not replace from whoever did last service. Plug came out easy an o-ring fell off plug. O-ring just bad, new O-ring install, start plug with finger an then allen to finish. Plug just continues to turn, remove plug, get mirror an whole is stripped out. Called harley shop want 1200.00 for new oil pan. This is just crazy. Going to check machine shop to see if they can put a heli-coil or time sert in it for me. But I would like to find the part number for the pan to check price. Removed pan in an hour after draining oil so just need to get it fixed now.
Baker makes a nice one for around 500 holds an extra quart. I would just heli coil it. I have had great luck with them. keep us posted and take pics of repair so we can see. Good Luck

I went to two machine shop an they said a heli-coil would not work cause the plug is tapered. Another cycle shop I called said he could tap it larger with a new drain plug. He keep them in stock to repair the drain in cases.
Did you find the pan on the link baldric gave you? On there it says about $1200 for it too. Where did you see it for $89 and whats the part number?
Oops nevermind I was looking at the whole transmission assembly which is listed with the same number on the chart as the oil pan which is odd. Maybe that's what the dealer saw too when they quoted you that price.

TRANSMISSION HOUSING W/ PAN
9 PAN, OIL (BLACK) 1 $88.60
The 1200.00 is the transmission assembly which is listed a 9 also.
And there it is... I would go that route for less than a buck, you cant beat that .Good stuff thats why I love this board.
I have used an oversized drain plug on an auto before, but never on a bike. I would think they would work just as good, but I am more picky on my bikes than with my cars. I would install a new pan if its 88 bux. Thats just me.

Well learn something new all the time. Went to a old indy shop an he used a 1/2-20 tap an just tap it deeper. The transmission drain whole is about 3" deep so there is plenty to retap. Used a socket head 1/2-20 bolt with a copper washer. Said should not give me a problem as long as I start bolt with finger. Cost 15.00 to tap an 1/2"bolt. 8.00 gasket. I may buy a spare just to have an hope I never use it.

I know there's self-tapping drain plugs out there that people use on car oil pans all the time. But most cars don't vibrate like our Harleys do.
There was a thread on the forum where a guy dropped a piece of rubber hose in his pan and had to remove the pan. He said it wasn't all that bad, really.
I mean, since you'll have to remove the pan anyway, and buy a new gasket anyway?
