Default What are my tire choices for a 17" wheel?

I ride a 2006 street bob, bought it used, came with a SE Dunlop GT502 180/60B17. I'm in need of a new rear tire, and I just can't justify spending $250 for a new GT502 180. I mean COME ON! I don't mind going back to the 160 size, but it seems that the OEM Dunlop is no longer available in the 17" wheel size. What are you guys running?
Thanks

I think you can buy the se180 on ebay at a reasonable price.

There's a place on ebay that sells the Michelin Scorcher 160/70-17 for $150 plus $19 shipping.

Love the way mine handles.

Looked for the GT502. No way, Jose. They're going for $250 almost everywhere. Take it or leave it. I think they're just simply low, really low, on stock and they're not going to give them away when they can't get enough stock in the first place.

Even Zanotti's is over $200, then you add in shipping, sooooo, I'm figuring that everybody is just low on stock.

Hopefully, maybe Michelin will jump into the 'Wide Tire' game by the time I need a new one. Dumflop is way low on my list of favorite tires. Especially for the money they want.

I think you're probably right. I just can't see paying $100 extra just for the "20mm cooler than stock." factor, especially since it probably doesn't handle any better (possibly not as good) as the 160.

I think I'll check out the Michelin Scorcher. Thanks.

I just bought the GT502 and shipping, taxes and all I think it was like $182.00, but there is always the Pirelli Night Dragon tire as well.

I got the Pirelli Night Dragons front and rear off of ebay for $270 for the set. I thought it was a good deal because I moved up to the 180 rear. And let me tell you what!! These tires are amazing over the crappy dunflops.
