The thing is, are the catalytic converters on a Fat Bob in the collector? If so, you might be better off doing the whole exhaust system rather than just slip-ons.
On Super Glides, the cats are in the muffler bodies so by using slip-ons, you eliminate them.
One of my main goals, in my thinking, was to eliminate the cats. They retain a LOT of heat and I'm not convinced they're as well designed as they are on cars. They've been on cars so long, engineers have actually designed them to increase power on most of them. IMO, on Harleys, they were just kinda slapped on there to keep the morons at the EPA in line.
I'm with you guys I mostly went with slipons for now cause Ive already been changing all manner of stuff on my 2010 FXD. I went with the Python Mambas and didnt have to remap at all, noticed a nice boost in performance during excelleration and they sound awesome. They have fully covering heat shields and work with all the stock brackets and hardware. Only cost 299 from J&P Cycles. I'm so glad my bike sounds like a harley now plus drivers can hear me coming and look more, It was scary how many people missed me compared to when I was riding my old 79 Ironhead with dragpipes on it. I think Loud Harley sound does make a difference
Thanks for this info, man. I have been considering the Mambas. Many who have purchased them left really good reviews for them on the retail websites. I'll prolly buy some today!!!
I was also looking for a set of slip ons for my Fat 2010 Bob. I ended up going with the new Screaming Eagle Black slip on's and new Black exhaust shield. The Rush also looked real nice and price was good. I really just wanted to go black exhaust and alittle better sound but nothing to loud myself.
Put Python 3 slip on's (no remap) on my 2009 FLSTC a few months back- massive sound improvement at a very reasonable price- if "loud pipes save lives" I'm in good shape-lol

I finally decided on the Pythons as well. thanks for the suggestion.
