Hey guys! I am considering getting an '06 street Bob, i know it's an 88 vs. a newer 96. Is there noticable difference in performance? also, i have a set of martin Bros. exhaust i want to put on the bike. Is this workable? Is there an o2 sensor on an 06 bob? I like the sound and the pipes look mean as hell. I am also considering la choppers 187 exhaust with lazer cut tips. any advice/imput would be grateful. J
No offense to the '06 bikes/riders out there but personally, I would probably avoid an '06 in favor of an '07. Not because of the 88ci engine but because of the IPB problems. Problems were corrected in '07 and the difference in cost of an '07 over an '06 would be minimal and no worries on the potential repairs. JMHO! Others will have a different view.

ahh man toss a baker IP bearing in there and your golden! i am a fan of the 88 over the 96 personally... yes it has 02 sensors but they can be removed or bypassed. personally i would weld bugs into the new pipes and use them, helps wiht the tune. you are going to want to get a good tuner witht hose pipes, i know on the daisy cutters i have used on chops they are picky about tuning. but eihter way great pipes and a great bike
i have an 06 so i am a bit bias

I own a 2006 Streetbob and I agree with this.

I've never regretted owning my 06... sure I've already did the IPB and I was a lil pissed when the Stator and Rotor grenaded... but I've never thought I need to sell it cause of the horrible 06 problems everyone talks about
How do you bypass the sensor? And which pipes are you referring to, Martin Bros, or LA Choppers? I am a bit new to doing my own work, but i have the time, and the will...I want it to be my creation as much as possible...To give you a reference point, my girlfriend told me to choose between her and the bike----> I am going to miss her
martin brothers are the ones we have on the chop... you are going to need a tuner to bypass the sensors, I like a SERT but some people use power comanders or others.
Yea +1 to what those guys above said, I got an 06 and had some initial extra maintenace to address, the IPB which now resides a nice baker hi torque bearing, a new 07 stator with a screaming eagle comp/rotor, and a updated triple tree bearing washer, which were some of the highlights for 06 dynas, now that I'm past all that bull, I love my bike, you get into later years, and they got their issues, different but issues none the less.
I've got and 06 myself and had the IPB replaced at the dealer at 12k and I welded all the little bolts on the rotor myself. Now have 35k on the bike and no problems since then. It has been solid as a rock. As far as the 07's go, they had problems with the crank flywheels twisting! I would rather deal with the primary then have to spend thousand's to fix the engine.
I got 20K on the original IPB on my 06 with issues so far.. some say its hit and miss not all go out, I did have the stator and rotor changed to the 07 solid version as a precaution. Hate the intregrated risers on the newer models. can't really go wrong with 06-08
