Are they really in the mufflers now and not before? If so, for all models and are there another model exemptions each year?

The talk over in the CVO forum is that all big inch motors, CVOs included, are fitted with cats. For the 96 inch motors with cats, the Tommy gun is either in the head pipe or collector, others are in one or both mufflers depending on model. I think the only way to be sure your FXDF has a cat is to inspect the head pipe, both collector and in the down tube. The FXDF CVOs had them in the collector, I think the 2008 CVOs were also fitted with cats.

Perhaps leads to some confusion here as I think CVO FXDFs have always had cats and all models have cats beginning in 2010. So you think a CVO pipe could be accidentally installed on a non CVO bikes(s) during production? If you want a pipe without cats, stay away from the CVOs unless they've been modified, and check the others carefully.

There is also discussion in CVO forums on how to bore the cats out.

..........................

I'm back to confused. OK, am taking the muff off with in the next couple of days and posting pics of the guts. I'm not concern with the power as much as having a heat storing super burner an inch from my right ankle.

If you have a cat in the shorty muffler it will have a heat shield on it.
