Clanking when I hit bumps

It was from my tank lift. The bolt up front was just a little loose!

I had the left rear bushing replaced, under warranty. It would make a noise I could not find but the service dept did.

15 yrs later this thread is still solving clanking noises on the newest of harleys. I’ve been riding with this noise for at least a month. Read this thread last night and had it fixed in five minutes this morning the front tank bolts were loose. Thanks!

yet again i had a clunking noise on my dyna when i got it, traced it down to a front tank bolt loose.

I just replaced a missing front tank bolt on a friend's Soft tail Classic. He wasn't complaining of a noise, I just noticed it when I was looking at his bike, that and a couple of other obvious to me things. Which is why I find it difficult to understand how anyone could go for any time with a thunk like that and not see something as obvious as this. Leads me to wonder, if you aren't seeing that, what else are you riding around with?
