Depends what you consider hard. Couple of bolts to remove dash. 12 bolts to remove the tank cover. Then fuel pump removal is as easy as sliding it up then lifting/twisting it through the hole you now have.
Once you have access to the filter it's very simple to replace. Shouldn't take more than 60-90 min round trip depending how slow you work.
I did this about a month ago and it is not much of a project. I found two hints that will make the project go faster. The entire unit after you have removed the 12 bolts needs to be rotated at about 45 degrees to come out. I still had a hard time removing the unit. When it was out you can see that the unit is in two parts held together by a spring. Working with it broken into the two parts makes the job much faster. That was my experience with replacing a fuel filter. Be careful removing the compression clamps too.
As usual with anything else - the first time will take you 3X as long.
It's not 'hard', just have a little patience and careful of the tank paint.
Have an (almost) empty tank before you start.
Oh yeah, don't light up a smoke either...
