You're right, the V&H have removeable baffles. I tried their quiet baffles and the BCT QQ baffles as well. All of them are loud. There is only a slight difference in sound level, what really changes is the tone and deepness of the sound. Depends on what you are looking for.
I don't think the neighbours would mind a deep sound, but the S/Es can sound a bit metallic / tinny in comparison with other HDs I've heard with different exhausts and I think that's what they object to.
Not that I really give a toss what they think becuse I have to put up with all their noisy kids playing at the side of my house (I live on a corner with a grassy bit that the kids like to play on). I think it's only fair that they should endure my Harley starting up now and then?
Being honest though - neighbours apart I would like a nice deep gutteral throb from my motor, rather than the raspy sound of the S/Es.
