CATs on FBs??

Hi there

thought i posted this question 2night but can't find the thread.

Lookin at buying a FB/or FBob but want to try to avoid CATs.

Can someone suggest years to get one without CATs?

Unless you're in CA, pre-2010 didn't have catalytic convertors.

Just get a new one with cats and then buy an uncatted set of head pipes for $30 on ebay like I did last week.

thanks for the info...

any other changes needed other than replacing the pipes? IE. tuneups, programming, air intakes, etc. to counter the CAT pullout?

Just in case you are looking at one, all the FB CVOs had cats, regardless of year. But some were drilled out. 2008 and 2009 non CVOs should not have cats.

I'm thinking it'll be fine if you use an uncatted pipe with a stock tune. I use a race fueler and am running just fine with it. But I have a catted pipe right now with baffles removed. Getting ready to cut the baffles out and build a rear section utilizing the stock headers. And run the uncatted header until I get the back half built.

Actually im sure it does in someways choke it HP wise but mine actually runs better than when I had the softail shotguns on my bike.I'm running no baffles and it doesn't decel pop or act up as much as it did with the baffles in it and with the catalytic converter. I adjusted the fuel curve a bit and she's running great now. But wait till I get my modded exhaust! Muahahahsha lol.
