Default National Cycle Windshield query

Never been a windshield guy, lately not able to handle winds @ greater speed..
So decided to finally put a windshield on my bike..I dont wanna windshield that would ruin my bike look
So decided to ask the dyna guys who run windshield on theirs
Anyone running the following National cycle windshiled on their Dyna's

I'm intrested in the following ones
Deflector Screen DX
Deflector Screen
Street Shield

Would like to know how it handles @ 70mph, Is there any wind buffeting?
Also which one looks really good on a dyna out of the three...
I dont want some ugly looking big windshield on a dyna

or should I pay more money and get the WINDVEST instead?

I never rode a bike with a shield, but a 4,000+ mile trip last summer had me in search of one. I ended up with a National Cycle Shorty. After the trip was over - I took it off, boxed it up, and haven't reinstalled it since.

I didn't like how it re-directed the air flow UP my nose instead of AT my nose.
That trip had 750ish miles of rain, which I figured the shield would be worth the investment for - it wasn't.

Not to mention, the docking hardware (sold separately) stays on the bike when the shield is removed and kinda looks like ****. If I were to do it again, I'd go with a quick detachable HD shield so I could completely remove the eye-sore when not in use.

I've only tried a 2Up so far. I'm not crazy about the mounts. I have a shorty on the way. I've tried the 2Up and plan to try the shorty.

I like the looks of the bigger shields better than the tiny ones. The difference to me is that the big windshields at least give Dynas a "Harley" look. The tiny ones look more like "other" brands to me and are still visible, but I find the look odd. YMMV. I did an experiment with a sleeping bag strapped on above my headlight to simulate a roll bag. I found that just that minor change knocked a lot of wind off my chest. That might be something else to consider.

I'm going to experiment and then decide. With the wife's bike we have two to try and time will tell if windshields are worth it to us or not.

Have you seen National Cycles Gladiator? I'm thinking about getting one of those. I have a Harley quick detachable but the buffetting is pretty bad and it's too big for my tastes. The gladiator has alot of adjustment to it, it's small and has a cool shape to it. It should be able to deflect enough wind to make longer rides less tiring. Oh yea the hardware comes with it you don't have to buy it seperatly like the other ones you mentioned.

I have a HD quick release on my dyna superglide, like it alot when the weather is nice I put it all the way down works like a windvest looks alright. but when the weather turns shitty, live in ohio happens alot. I put it all the way up and like it alot more, could care less how it looks.blocks most of the rain and cold and makes me happy,on and off in less than a min.easy to adjust.four quick release clamps.

If you didn't have the shorty on the way, I'd ask if you wanted to test swap shields for a week...

I was looking at the same one. Was hoping someone had used it so I could see pics before ordering.

I have a national dx shield that I sometime use, don't have a photo handy. It works about the same as any smaller shield, can be adjusted to minimize buffeting. The shield takes some of the edge off the chest but you are not going to feel like you are riding in a convertible. I think it looks great installed, but it does leave the handlebar clamps on the bike. You can remove those in a minute if you want clean bars.

If you follow the instructions and adjust the bottom of the shield against something hard, they are stable at least to 100. They are cheap enough. I ran one routinely for 10 years on a previous bike without issue.
