Shift rod bolts?
I purchased a used set of forward controls, what i don't have is the bolts that connect the shift rod to the linkage. the rod is the custom round with the
ball ends on it (33815-06).
can you tell me if the bolts used on this are a shoulder bolt
so the nut does'nt tighten against the the ball or if it does go tight and the ball just moves with it? i looked on the HD website but can't tell by picture.
thanks
ron
HD p/n 4017 bolt (bolt, 5/16-18 X 1 hex. hd. grade 5 steel)
HD p/n 6016 washer (washer, 11/32 X 1-5/16 X 5/8)
HD p/n 7507 acorn nut (acorn nut, 5/16-18 X 5/8 X 1/2 hex)
To be sure if these parts will fit your bike, take out your vernier calliper and do some measurements I'd say....

mine takes a 5/16-24 thread. i just was'nt sure if i tghten the nut tight against'
the ball joint. i assume thats what i need to do and the ball will move with
the shifting rod when i shift. it just seemed a little stiff when i tried moving the
ball joint with my fingers. when I took it out of ups box last night.
