Also, on my original stock 160 dunlop I got 14k miles. I was commuting minimum 500 miles a week to work (3 days a week) on some less than favorable roads.
Saying you're getting half that as normal would bother me something fierce.
I have the stock Michelin tires that my SB came with when I bought it new back in April. Here are some picks of the tires as of today. I would like some input on how close you all think they are to being changed based on looks alone. Anyone want to guess how many miles I have on them?

Both tyres look about half worn by the tread depth, not sure how many miles on them, depends on riding "style". The profile of the front looks good with no cupping. The rear looks, to me at least, to have a very squared off profile, almost like the transition on to the side of the tyre would be abrupt. Maybe the previous rider for whatever reason did,nt lean over much.

When I took the pics today, my milage was at 9777miles. It is true I dont get to get in the twisties as much as I would like and I am still trying to get over my fear of the "Blind Curve". That is what I went into last March when there was a deere in the road just past the blind spot and when I corrected to go around him and turned back into the corner, splash went the bike and I ended up rolling and stopped about a foot and a half frome a telephone pole. Doing the Dragons Tail last weekend helped me out alot with that, but it's not an over night thing.
Anyway, I figure that I have about 3-4k left on the tires before I need to change, but I will be buying a new set shortly just so I have them when I need them.
I got 7200 miles out of stock Dunlop rear tire, replaced that w/Metz880 and got 6100 miles, now on third rear tire, fair amount of 2 up riding. Air pressure is very important on Metz tires, still running the Dunlop front tire, that will go by March when inspection is due, now have about 13.5K on front.
