Reason: SPELLING
You will manually have to pull it off and then use goo gone. After goo gone, polish out with a good cleaner wax if you have gloss paint, if denim paint use Windex to get residual off.
Assuming it's a painted pinstripe not a adheasive one your best bet it to let a professional (body shop/painter) do it. The stripe is on top of the clear so they should be able to help you out. Otherwise you could really damage the paint and wind up spending alot more to have that fixed.
first try easy off oven cleaner. depending on the type of paint the striper used it may work. if that doesnt work get the recommendations from a good striper before doing anything. better yet, maybe call the guy who laid down the stripes and ask him how to remove.
luckily my first guy used some paint that was easy to remove. hope you are as lucky.
first try on mine yielded this:
then a ran across jeremy seanor of luckstrike. he removed the old with easy off oven cleaner and laid down what i think are some nice solid stripes. notice he brought the stripes up on top the tank rather than on the sides. this dude has some sick lines. he saved my ***.
i dont think your stuck with a re-paint. hopefully its the type that the easy off will work on. if not, jeremy mentioned some other methods that would take off stripes that are laid down with better paint.
DO NOT TRY OVEN CLEANER!!!!! that is some mean mean stuff and can ruin your paint... buff it off man wiht some rubbing compound, if you can also wet sand it at 2000 wet then buff it out
If the clear coat is a part of the factory paint job (or any other modern finish) lacquer thinner should take off the striping without harming the clear. Test it on the underside of the take to be sure.
Yeah, that oven cleaner is some brutal stuff. I've used it to strip paint off of parts. Just spray it on and let the part bake in the sun for a little while and the paint just bubbles up.
