I and others have their adjustable foot boards and like them a lot, but several of us have
had problems with the rubber tread peeling off and 2 Orange Harleys has not repaired
or replaced them even when they failed shortly after purchase.
I betcha that's a Memphis Shades... the offerings in windshields are exactly the same as those from Memphis Shades (colors and heights), and it looks to be the exact same dimensions...
edit: I just asked the seller if it was Memphis Shades brand... I'll let you know what they say...
My thought also. BTW, Bry, I had a long talk with the local Memphis Shades dealer
earlier today. I'm going to go forward with the Batwing installation, probably by the
end of the month. Thanks for all your info on that..
The one in the ebay ad does not fit 2010 and up dyna. I emailed the seller and he said "No this one is for the narrow glide dynas"
If that's the case then it won't fit '06 and up. All Dyna's except the Wide Glide from '06 and up are 49mm mid glide, the narrow glide 39mm Dyna's were '05 and earlier.
Unless I'm sorely mistaken, Memphis Shades does not make a batwing fairing for HD Dynas (according to their website). If I remember correctly they only make them for FL models (which includes a couple softtails). No seller should advertize the Memphis Shades batwing as fitting a Dyna. That's why this eBay ad is a little confusing to me.
I just went all through this yesterday with a Memphis Shades dealer and the catalog
so I can back Bry up on his concerns.
1) Memphis Shades does NOT, repeat NOT make a Batwing for ANY Dyna.
2) The Harley style Batwing itself is not the issue, it is the mounting hardware
(more accurately, the lack thereof)
3) The Batwing mounting plates differ from bike to bike so you have to know which
is which; one size does NOT fit all...
4) In some cases, the fit / no fit difference can be very, very small and is therefore
something that can likely be adapted with a spacer, if you order the right set of plates.
OK, having said all that, it's possible that the vendor has developed a better set
of mounting plates or standardized adapters for the Batwing; something that Memphis
should have done years ago. If so, they should start churning those adapter kits out
rather than trying to ship an entire "solution" and *****-footing around about what
components are in their "solution".
To confuse things more, last night in the garage I took the brackets off of my HD QD windshield and lined them up with the ones on the Memphis Shades fairing.
It would take a little bending of the tabs, and adding a piece of metal for the lower mounting tab but I'm pretty sure it would work like a charm.
