To confuse things more, last night in the garage I took the brackets off of my HD QD windshield and lined them up with the ones on the Memphis Shades fairing.
It would take a little bending of the tabs, and adding a piece of metal for the lower mounting tab but I'm pretty sure it would work like a charm.
Do you mean mounting the fairing directly to the HD bits? If so, then that's the direction
I'm heading...
Yep that's what I mean. The two brackets on the inside of your windshield (each bracket attached with 3 small nuts) look to me that they'll work with the fairing with a little work.
What I didn't confirm was if the angle or tilt of the fairing from front to back would be an issue. But again that's something that could be adjusted with spacers.
i started emailing questions to 2orange from the ebay auction. he said that if you bought the memphis shades fairing and then bought the mounting kit part number 2320-0031 which is for a fat/slim windshield and mount that to the faring. Since that part number will work on the 49mm forks. He said with this kit the fairing will pull off like a windshield as a quick release. The only thing different is the there will be the 4 clamps on your forks that will be left behind when you pull the fairing. The good thing he said is then if you also have a windshield, that the windshield will also mount directly to that same hardware.
This is a little different than Bry's install where he has the 4 quick release clamps connected to the fairing thus leaving nothing behind when removed. I like this option better.
But when it comes down to cost, to go Bry's way then you have to buy the mounting bracket for 61. and 4 quickrelease clamps for 138.ish ( 34 a piece through harley). Thats about 200 when your done. Or buy the whole mounting kit from memphis shades for 137.ish and have the 4 clamps left behind on the forks. And with this you can mount a windshield or fairing on the same clamps.
Either way I think i am getting closer to buying one.
I've got to wait a week or so for the change jar to fill up again, but I'm going to have the
local indy who's a Memphis dealer order the fairing and 7" clear "windshield" for me, but not
the Memphis brackets. I have the complete HD clamp-type windshield already so I'll see if I
can go to a direct mount. If that works, I'm about $75 ahead of the game. If not, I'll have
him order the Memphis brackets and I'll only be a week or so behind.
I saw post 6... That doesn't mean it will truly fit a narrow glide... The ebay add states it will fit 2006 and up. All 2006 and up Dyna's are wide not narrow.

If you were to add spacers to bring the QD clamps in closer to one another, you could get the desired width to fit a narrower front end. In the picture below that means bringing in the 9 5/8" measurement closer together:

I'm not sure how tall you are, but on my setup 7" is too low. I'm in the process of looking for an OEM Electra Glide windshield so I can cut it up, paint it, and attach it for more coverage. As it sits now with the original 7" windshield (which I've raised about 1.25") the wind hits me right in the forehead.
