I ordered up the batwing fairing and brackets for a Yahama V-Star 650. It is exactly what Bry here has, and V-Star 650's have 41mm tubes....same as I have. I will be trying to get it to work using all of the Memphis Shades hardware. I'll start a post once it gets here. I also went with the 12" clear windshield, so that I can cut it down to exactly where I want it. 20 bucks at a glass shop will make it look real professional on the cut. Depending on how it sits, I may need to have the glass shop notch the fairing in two spots a hair so that my apes will sit where they are now.

Joe, the tubes on my wife's '02 V-star 650 are huge in comparison to my '03 WG's. I had to order special brackets from Memphis Shades in order to put some lowers on her bike that were on mine.

Yeah the tubes on my buddies V-Star were bigger, that's why I couldn't use his mounting hardware. But, the tubes were the same (or damn close) width apart from one another, which is why the brackets for the V-Star worked for my Wide Glide front end.

Ok, distance apart might be the same, or close enough to make it work plus your bikes are newer too.

I'm wondering how much more wind the batwing cuts down in comparison with my Switchblade I got from Nat Cyle. I was really impressed how much this cut in comparison to the larger qr HD shield I had on originally. Actully there's no comparison between those 2 shields...lol. I can wear a ball cap at 70, bill forward with no problem now. No air hits my chest. Some hits my arms but thats ok.

Thanks for the heads up!

Just read a little bit and it looks like the V-Star 650 has 41mm forks, but they also have large-diameter shrouds that go over the forks. I think the V-Star 650 mounting hardware is built to go over the large-diameter shrouds, which is why hardware made for the V-Star will not work for our 41mm fork tubes.

I checked with local hd dealer and the quick-release brackets are $32.00 for normal and $39.00 for lockable ones.

Everything I have mounted on the wifes bike forks go over the oversized fork, whether its a shroud covering or whatever.

Thanks...and sounds about right. I found some on eBay...the lockable ones in the mid 30 dollar range.

Trust me, I didn't go into this, or any of the other work with the idea that it would be "plug and play"....custom stuff comes close, but fab work is just part of the deal.

If it was EASY...hell....everybody would do it! You have to enjoy the challenge, at least to a point, and have a vision. The rewards come when YOU are happy, and somebody...somehwere ntoices it, points it out and has kind words.

For many, it is just easier to buy a new bagger. Nothing wrong with that. I just wanted to be a "cheap skate" and "fix" my bike to get there!

I hope it I get close. I really love this bike, guys. I hope you guys don't think I screwed it up.
