The one that Joe has is actually wider than my fender is. A license plate is actually just as or wider than my fender....SUCKS!

I can take criticism, what dont you like about the front fender? I dont think its perfect, but for the money ($69 shipped) I didnt think it was a bad choice.

This bike is being built on a pretty tight budget, I am trying to keep the total under $6k.

I can understand the 'price being right' ....

The thing I don't care for is the 'hooded' appearance ... the way the support bracket curves and merges into the shape of the fender ... I just don't personally care for it ....

I know there are a few makers of that style of fender, and there are plenty of fans ... that's why I just said it's 'not my cup of tea ... nothing really wrong with it ... just doesn't appeal to me is all ....

I understand exactly what you are talking about. Its not the exact fender I wanted, but it was fit the bill when I took into consideration the price.

Awesome build Chad. I know what you mean about the offroad stuff being BUCKS...

I just sold my last two offroad toys. New job, less money...and more kids. Toys are slowly disappearing, but the bikes are here to stay. Those I can semi-afford.

Keep in mind the fender and tire on this bike are narrow due to it being a 1997, and without spending a bunch of money, it will have to stay a 130 for now.

I need a horizontal plate (illinois law) and want visible turn signals. My wife may be riding this, so it needs to be visible/safe.
you wana bob the rear or leave it full length?

you can chop it a little, go with a side-mount with a good brake light and some bright mini-bullet LEDs for turn sigs.

clean and functional.

If you are gonna use that front fender which I dig by the way. A full length rear is kinda required to keep it balanced which knocks out the Sparto/ Plate bracket combo cuz they only look good on bobbed fenders. If that has the skinny rear rim I wouldnt bob the fender anyways exposing the pizza cutter tire. So I think a homemade curved liscence plate bracket built around the profile of the fender with a nice trim ring. maybe even mount the plate directly on the fender and bend a trim ring to it. Then a aftermarket blacked out surround lense cover over the OEM taillight.

Thanks for the opinions! Im still thinking about it. Its good to have some other input on it.

Here is a pic of a license plate on the fender. It really is wider than the fender.

If it werent for the budget, I would cut the struts off, move them out and use a 02-05 fender that is 1" wider and use a 150 tire with a new sprocket/pulley and belt. But that would cost about $225 for the pulley and belt, $125 for the tire, and then I would still need a fender, tail light, signals.....It never stops!

No problem! Sorry to hear about selling them. I am actually trying to sell my Jeep. I lost interest, many friends sold their rigs, only two offroad parks within 4 hours drive! Just too many reasons not to keep it. I wanted to sell it and build a turbo V-Rod....Maybe next year or over the summer!

How wide is the rear fender, I will look around and see what I can find? I agree with the fellow that said it should be a long fender to match up with front one. In the $50 or less post Priest has a plate bracket that he just build, looks really bad azz. I suggested that he maybe sell them. It is posted on the last couple of pages in that thread.
