Are you planning on cutting up the frame or its component locations to move/relocate them? I can't wait to see the blue you choose to do the frame in. Are you doing the whole bike in blue?
No, I'm gonna leave the frame alone. The plan was to do something kinda different, then I was going to sell it for a profit. Then my wife sat on it when it came home and now she wants to take a rider safety course and possibly ride it.
The plan for colors:
Dark metallic blue frame, swing arm and a few misc pieces to tie it in. My wife wants to do the original logo on the tank in blue to match the frame.
Silver tins, primary, engine, trans covers (hate polished and chrome is out of budget)
Black: Engine, trans, inner primary, calipers and a few other pieces.
That is a sweet azz color, I can't wait to see it on the frame.
Man, I can't wait until the day my wife tells me she wants to learn to ride. I might have a heart attack!!!! I have asked her for years and gave up. She told me a while back that she wants to wait until our little girls is off in college (6 more years). But my kid wants to learn as soon as she can. She wants the current sporty 48 in orange. I told her that maybe a used one for her High School Grad gift. It will be a little Honda Rebel she rides before that. The Grad gift would be cool and a lot cheaper then a new car.
Just got home from dropping off the heads at Larry's shop. He is going to mill them down .050 and port them for me. Should be a good running EVO when its done.
I know what some of you are thinking, why do motor work for the wifes bike...Well, the valve guide seals were leaking pretty bad and I wanted to check out the cylinders and pistons to find out exactly what condition the engine was in. I also figured while they were getting new seals in them, I might as well get the heads milled and ported to better match the cam.
Looks great, colors sound good. It'll be finished in no time at this rate
Yeah, things are going pretty quick right now. I want to beat the rush at the machine shop, and I have to get all my stuff over to the Powder Pro's before all you mugs tear into your bikes and start sending them stuff!
ha ha ha tear down is the easy part! it is assembly that gets fun! will be dope chad... Love the colors you and Becky picked out... will be awesome ... ill try and shoot down tomorrow, i got to pick up that rim anyway you snagged up for me to coat. but we will see... just slammed now... thanks again bud!
"Might as well"--can be the three most expensive words in our vocabulary.
I am very familiar with the results of those words. I am also a Jeep enthusiast which is easily a close second to a Harley in terms of spending money on modifications.
I have a 08 TRD FJ Cruiser and 4x4s eat more dough than HDs do by far.
I would have to say you guys picked some seriously sweet colors. With a Blue / Silver combo there is no way I would do black on the engine though. Just my opinion, and you know everybody has one!! Yuk Yuk
Please say you are gonna do all the chrome in silver powder including the rims!
