Default 30/70 pulley combo

Who has a 30/70 pulley combo?
I have already changed to the 30 tranny pulley, with the stock size belt(131) and pulley(66t) my rear tire is only 1/4 of an inch from swingarm. I put it all together like this to find out if my mod would work, now that I am satisified, I want to move the wheel back a bit. A longer belt means I might as well change the pulley.

I am intrested to know about real life experiences, the gear #s do not translate into my head.

thanks,
paul

I'm confused. If you installed a smaller front pulley, how come your wheel is all the way up to the swingarm?
Sounds like you need a longer belt, ESPECIALLY if you increase the size of the rear pulley.
The 30/70 is going to be significantly lower gearing, more than a 10% reduction.....Might make first pretty useless, which means that it's too low. Get a longer belt, if possible, to move the wheel back.
This is why I prefer chain drive for custom and high performance bikes. Set up the gear ratio you want, then cut the chain to fit.

yes, the 30t pulley did push wheel back a smidge, I have a modified 240 swingarm with a V-rod 18x5.5 wheel. Its not even close to the stock length. I plan on getting a longer belt regardless so I thought about a bigger pulley. The 70t is one option but the 72t is screaming for my attention.

Chains are not what I want.

Yes, first will run out real quick, but I want to know how it cruises on the highway with the 30/70 combo

Got ya filth..well with the stock 32/66 the ratio is 2.06...and when i changed mine to a 30t i gained about 300rpm at a 2.2 ratio. Going to a 70 rear would put ya at a 2.3 ratio..go it would be around another 150rpm increase..so over stock your looking at around a 400-450 rpm increase...i think 1st would be more then usefull...btw..is the rear tire dia. the same size? That will also play into gear ratio change..

the rear is larger than the stock 17, thats what gave me trouble to begin with, and the original reason to do the 30t pulley.

I have found the calculator to figure the ratios, but I am simple minded #s are not very useful.

I am curious on the opinions of those with the 06 that came stock with the 70t.

With the current 30/66 setup its fun but, why not more?
