I own a 2007 Street Bob I bought used a few months ago. It came to me with forward controls. I notice down inside between the crankcase and the inner primary housing is the old mid shifter arm, just sticking up all alone.
Looks kinda rusted in some areas.
I got a flashlite and followed it down and it does in fact go into the primary inner housing. It looks like it has been pulled out some since the arm is right up against the crankcase housing. It doesn't move, just kinda stuck there.
No oil leakage or anything like that.
Is this normal ?
There is a plug on the outside primary where the old mid shifter used to be. Should there be a plug on the inside ?
If you need to open primary for maintanace or repairs then take it out, if not just leave it, that hole is sealed thru primary., some people have saw it off form under bike.
ya its the stock shift arm...u have to pull the primary to remove it...not that bad of a job..while your in there put a 30tooth sprocket in it...youll love it.

Thanks for reply (all of you)
When I take it out, I surmise there is a plug from HD I can get to put in the hole?
The 30 tooth, is that a lower ratio thing ? How much lower, in other words I have to get to about 60mph now to do 2000 rpms in 6th gear. What could I expect with the 30 tooth ?
Ha!! thanks guys...i guess i couldnt see that even with those big black letters! lol! Going to the 30t will increase rpm..its a nice improvement..it makes 6th gear more usable...do a search as theres a few threads on it...so no use getting another one started..all the info youd need is all in there...good luck!
