Default Bike Workshop in a Shed?

Hey; just wondering if any of you use a shed to store/work on your bike. I only have a carport and have been storing my bike at a friend's place in the winter but I'd like to have it closer by to be able to work on it more easily. I'd like to be able to have the bike on a lift, maybe a small work table and my tools........ Just wondering if anyone has any experience doing this and if you have any recommendations as to size...... most of the prefab sheds I've seen seem to be 8'X10' which I'm thinking would be a bit small but it's hard to tell till you wheel the bike in there......... anyway; just something I'm pondering on a rainy November Monday morning in Canada.............

we've got so many vehicles, we had to get a pre-fab shed for the bikes.

i'm not sure, but i think it's a 12x12. fits my dad's street glide and my bob just fine, with room to walk down the middle, and a toolbox at the back and a smaller one in the left hand corner.

since these pics were taken, a pvc shelving unit was added to the left of the main toolbox, to get all that **** against the back wall up off the floor.

if there were only one bike in there, a workbench would be very feasible, but the only problem i see with a lift, is the height of the roof.

here's some pics.

I got a barn type shed 12'x16' with a wooden floor .Had it delivered,I wired it and insulated it. you can get3 bikes in it no sweat ,but with a work bench and tools and other crap( snow blowers, lawn mowers ect.)1 bike still fits with lots of room!

8x10 is tight to work in. I would go bigger if you need work room. That 12x12 looks feasable with only 1 bike and a lift or table/toolbox/small air compressor. Since I have moved so much in the last 3 yrs I was actually going to get a decent sized box trailer and setup a moving shop. However trailer theft is a problem in my area so I decided to pay higher rent and get a attatched garage.

I built 2 cars outta a garage that size.. That sucked. I built and maintained all of my powersport equipment outta that same garage, which it worked great for.

Before I started building my shop, I was told: "build it just as %$#@ big as you can afford to build it". Very true words cause no matter how big it is, you will have crap in it taking up space and you will always wish it was bigger.

I thought about the shipping container thing - there's actually a company here that will custom make whatever you want inside, paint it up and everything and drop it where you want it. Not cheap but a lot less than a proper garage....... problem is I don't have the room for one and, although the wife is a pretty agreeable sort, I'm pretty sure she might draw the line at having a big ol shipping container sitting in the middle of the yard........ can't say I'd blame her either - my property just isn't that big.

I have a 12'x20' wood shed. works pretty good. Plenty of room. Don't know how much it cost because it was already there when I bought the house. I wired and insulated it. Couple of space heaters and you're good to go. It needs a new roof now which sux but, cheaper than a new garage.
