Howard,
So you are saying I dont need inverted forks, just quality components (Ohlins from you) for stock 49mm forks? Will I be able to use my existing triple trees in this case?
Or it needs to be replaced? I mean, my triple trees do not look damaged...

Pro:
- Very Rigid
- Radial calipers with large rotors
- Quality internals if the forks are quality. I am not talking about the cheap *** crap but for real forks like Ohlins & White Power. Quality internals can be installed inside of KYB which makes great sliders and bushings that work. The sister company of KYB makes the Ohlins forks for Ohlins.
- Very few shops can install the fork bushings in real inverted forks. They are captivated and the sliders must be heated to expand to allow the bushings to be removed. You must drive them out. In the large raked Harley's with 4"+ of rake does not allow the fork tubes to slide easily inside of the sliders in he bushings. This is due to the friction of the weight of the motorcycle and the angle of the fork tubes. I build/rebuild many forks and I have found that your bushings inside of the HD FLT's are getting to be worn out in 10K miles. With a captivated bushing system means you had better learn how to change your bushings.
- There is another type of system available such as what HD uses on V-Rods & XR1200's which the slider tube works just like that of a conventional where as one of the bushings slides in the aluminum slider. A steel fork tube that is coated and the captivated bushings slide on it has a far less coefficient of friction than sliding on aluminum.
I am getting very tired and have to hit it. If you plan on racing your bike either on or off the street than inverted forks would be a plus. For the average guy with a pocket full of cash would not really benefit from inverted forks other than bragging rights which is worthless in the great scheme of things.
Quality components installed inside of 49mm top triple tree clamped will work just fine with little flexing. Yes, it can be done inside of the 49mm 2014~current forks and they work really well. I am talking about a fully adjustable fork. I am not talking about those components that are sold for under a $1,000 as they are just a compromise.
I have got to go.
Yes you can, be inexpensive and work well if your trees are 2014~current. I have many customers who have them.
