Hey, you guys with those round air cleaners, can you tell me what effect they have on your knee and foot position on forward pegs. I have the stock football air cleaner on my 2001 Wide Glide and it really interferes with my knee and forces my foot further out on the forward peg. It is not as comfortable as my left side that has no interference and would like to have that same luxury on the right side. I would prefer to stay away from the intakes that that put the filter out front, though.
Thanks,
Don
This was something I was concerned with as well when I was looking for intakes. I sat on a lot of different bikes to see how the position of my leg was with them and how it hit my knee. I ended up with the DK custom because its the slimmest out there yet seems to flow very well. I like the clear cap too over it so it still looks trick. Nice and comfortable and my knee hardly hits with the forward controls. Best part is they are some of the least expensive options out there.
There is a lot to smoothing out the flow and turbulence. Picking the right AC is dependent on the aesthetic appeal as well as where you want your power - for 99% of us Big-Twin riders we need power in the 2000-4500 RPM range. DK Custom spents hours on the dyno with multiple bikes, multiple hi-flo AC's before releasing their 636v - take a look at the attached dyno sheets. I'm sure Kevin at DK would more than happy to discuss with you.
