Default Odometer Console button

Looking for some help,

When I removed my dash, while disconnecting the wiring harnesses, everything went smoothly until I got to the rubber odometer button on the side of the dash. This button cycles through the information on my dash console.

While unscrewing the button, the inside wires connected to it burst apart, a couple of springs went flying, and the mechanism dismantled. I found all of the pieces and believe I have the button assembled again, but I have no idea how the wires are connected inside this mechanism. There is NO information in the service manual about how this goes back together. I played with it for a while, but can't seem to find where the wires connect inside the mechanism. Here's a couple pictures...HELP!

Ugh I hate it when that happens. Sometimes if you search the floor with one of those new multi-bulb bright flashlites you can spot stuff that blended with the concrete to the naked eye.

I would guess the round item goes around the center copper color item but it appears you are still missing some parts. It's just a 2 pole switch so if you can find some way to hook the wires to anything that connects to the switch teminals it will work. Either wire can go to either terminal doesn't matter.
If you can't find them you can get a new one at Zanotti's for $12 plus shipping, at https://shop.zanottimotor.com/part/67565-04
Check you local shop, on some items the price is similar and they just might have it in stock (in case it's warm enough to ride where you are)

I wouldn't think it would matter where on the pushbutton you mount the wires. The pushbutton should be just momentary contact between the two wires. It is just connecting the two wires when you push the button. If that is the case the wires can be put back on the two terminals in any order. Just my opinion.

My bad. Misread your question. I guess you don't know where on the back of the button to mount the wires.

I was going to mention that, I don't see any "terminals" to mount the wires...

is it possible the switch is pre wired for options my bike doesn't have? I see no terminals to connect those wires to...maybe the two wires were just resting in the housing?

Is it possible they broke off of the same terminals the other wires are going to? Best I can tell from the pic it looks like there are two more wires going to it. Is there a small slot they slide into?

Sorry didn't see that. We posted at same time. If everything works I wouldn't worry about it. I would think that if they were unused they would have insulated the ends of them. Kind of hard to tell anymore from the pic.
