They do. They fold up also, but they're not pretty on the bottom. I wont ride solo with them as they are bit goofy from the perspective. But from a comfort perspective they are in a comfortable spot for her.

Same here, I bought the mounts on ebay for $99 new with blemishes and a set of take off touring boards in black for $60.

What he said is true! I went with the touring for two reasons, the rider portion of the seat was narrower that the Sundowner and it was CHEAPER! The passenger seat on both seats listed the same dimensions so for her it didn't matter. Knowing how often it would get used I wanted to spend as little as possible and with the short legs of an average male I needed every inch I can get to be flat footed.

I have the "Sundowner" on my '08 FXDC and love it. Took a ride this past august from eastern Montana to central Ohio, up through Minnesota, and back home across North Dakota. 4,260 miles total with no issues at all. The last day was for eleven and a half hours from Minneapolis to my house, and my butt was comfy the whole time. Had my daughter on for 500 miles while she visited me in '08, and she loved it too. Its a great seat and only comes off the bike when it gets washed.

yeah that touring seat harley offers is a good choice. and according to what another member said in this thread it doesnt move you forward and not too far upward. not to mention it is $40 cheaper than the sundowner. although if money gets tight then i will just roll with the butty buddy passenger seat. that looks promising.

Besides the new seat/peg additions, it would be wise to take a few shorter (100-200 mile) trips before your Gettysburg trip. You both might learn some things that will help make the long haul a little more comfortable. For example: after her first few 100 mile rides, my wife's legs would be sore for days. She finally figured out she wasn't relaxing her legs during the whole ride. After that, I used to tap her on her knees every once in awhile to remind her to relax. Now, after a half hour or so, I have to tap her to make sure she's still awake.
