A tires speed rating has nothing at all to do with how well it grips and I really doubt anyone will be doing 200 on their Harley regardless of the speed rating. If you want a old school tire grips well you will have to look to Japan. The Dunlop TT100GP loots just like the old K81 from the 80's and is reported to be almost sticky enough to use for fly paper. I got a set for my RD350LC project but it wasn't easy.

Really nice tire that Dunlop ! to bad there isn't 16" (couldn't find the TT in the Dunlop iether...)
bikerlaw I think that would be a wise decision, there’s just one problem…. I’m not wise ;-)… just kidding, why is there always a choice to make, and why is it always then one you don’t wanna make that’s the wise one !
I have a 07 FLHTCU that I was thinking about putting the cokers on. I'm 64 and if I remember in the 50's and 60's that's what all the FLH's had. I know my pan head had them. Any input?
Remember, this IS 2019. The, as you call it, Old School tires are simply that, OLD TECHNOLOGY. OEM Dunlops are OK, just upgrade you tires when they wear out. Here's my point. My 07 Dyna has over 92.000 miles on it. I ride hard & fast and live for the twisties, Michilin Commander II's. Wife's 04 1200 Custom, she chases me through twisties. Michilin Commander II's. My 1977 XLH 1000, 2076 miles on total restoration, Shinko Tour Master. Too bad there are no Michilins that fit that bike. Do I want/need period correct tire tread patterns on the Old School 1977? HELL NO! I want it to handle.

Yeah aside from this being a real necro thread we rode on those tires back then because they were all we could get, you don't ride 55 very long and stay out of the rain go for it but they are lousy tires honestly. Oh and move your time frame up by 10 years I'm 64 also and in the 50's & most the 60's neither of us had learned what a dick was really used for yet much less noticed what tires where on a motorcycle.
