Default Tell me this is a bad idea!

I hate the sound of my v$h big radius so I am thinking about taking my stock exaust and knocking the converters out of the headpipes and chopping the rear section where the pipes separate. Then install a set of paughco mufflers staggered about 8 inches. It will end up just past the swingarm mount I believe.

http://paughco.com/2008-catalog/indi...20Paughco.html

I am thinking the 600's.

Then just running wrap and black hi temp for my coating.

Is that going to look like crap on a 2010 WG and more importantly how will the old school muffles sound on a high idling efi bike?

I simply do not understand the allure of the wrap on exhaust. Maybe I am missing the point but it looks trailer park.

I like the idea, however I like the 618BT's better.

I say go for it. If it doesn't work out or sound good, you don't have a whole lot tied up in it.

Why not try a set of Quiet Baffles first? They are not quiet but just deeper toned. I got mine for 26 bucks in eBay.

I think I will order everything up next payday and get started on this. It will be the first actual costom touch that isnt some random bolt on part or powdercoated stock peices.

I don't think your pipes will last as long with the wrap on them. They are pretty mild steel and will probably be reduced to nothing in about a year. That being said it's your bike and do as you please.

Actually it's a pretty good idea.Custom exhausts are cool and using the stock header system is a good starting point.I would try and keep the "crossover" intact it helps to equalize the back pressure and will make it easier to tune.Just a thought.I've had exhaust wrap on my Thunderheader for about 5 yrs and it's still holding together through two wrap jobs.It is rusting quite a bit more since I moved to the coast but that's the price you got to pay to live where everyone else vacations.
