Default Retainning clip position?

Why does the position of a retainning clip matter when you installed a new clutch cable? I already installed but read this after I did it. Is there a way to test it? Its going to snow for 2 more months so a test ride is out of question.

Do it right, or keep your hands off it.

I don't recall the reason for the position of that clip, but there is one.
You likely will be fine, but why find out in the middle of a trip, far from home?

Its going to snow for 2 more months so a test ride is out of question.
Plenty of time to fix it properly!

The retaining ring opening must be centered above the break in the ribbing at the bottom of the release cover.
This will make sure both ears of the snap ring have adequate support, and the unsupported meat of the ring is part hanging out in free space. The last thing you want is for the ring to pop loose from side loading because the meat wasnt where it was supposed to be. If you spin your snap ring counter clockwise 45°, you'll be in business

That's really true about leaving the part of ear out of the air part.that is probally why they want it at that point in pic? I'm good then.

Never even knew you had to have it in a certain postion, I figure if my clutch was correct before the change it should be ok after the change I just clipped it into the arm that sticks out and left it at that, I adjusted play on the cable after I put it back together, my clutch is working fine,
