heres one that im sure alot of you have not considered.

when i get those composite gaskets, i start with of all things a sea shell!

then i move to a Harbor freight hone stone.

In case anyone cares, ive been a tech for 24 yrs. and this is the Import way (Toyota) of cleaning aluminum block surfaces.

I learn something everyday, (well most days,) and I've never heard of such a thing... You get the hone stone from Harbor Freight...how do you get your hands on a sea shell? They (Toyota,) supply you with them?

Thanks for all of the replies.

I ended up using a combination of - razor blade, gasket remover, and yes a Dremal Tools. The Dremal had a cloth polishing wheel, not a grinder.

Unfortunately do to a superbowl commitment I didn't get it all back together - hopefully Tuesday evening.

I can put one in the mail if you would like.

Ive found sea shells in the Utah mountains, so im sure you could turn one up over there.

i would not however recommend use petrified fossils on a HD!
